SONOBIO Ultrasonic Homogenizer
Ultrasonic homogenizers, also known as “sonicators,” are essential for precision laboratory tasks, specializing in breaking down cells and particles using ultrasonic waves. Their mechanism involves a rapidly vibrating tip, creating bubbles in a liquid that collapse, generating powerful shear and shock waves. This process effectively disintegrates cells and subcellular structures in suspension.
While superb for liquified samples, they are less effective for intact tissue. A unique aspect of these devices is their ability to shear DNA, which can be beneficial or undesirable depending on the research. They are also adept at creating emulsions, dispersing nanoparticles, and reducing particle sizes in suspensions.
However, they produce considerable heat, potentially affecting temperature-sensitive samples. Thus, employing an acoustic enclosure is advised to mitigate the intense sound waves produced.
